There’s a new fraud in town and you can thank the COVID-19 pandemic for it. At a time when mandates required government and many private-sector employees to get the vaccine, a demand for a new type of identification became necessary. The COVID-19 vaccine card. And many people who didn’t want the vaccine, needed that card. But remember this. Where there is a need, there is a fraudster. And there are fraudsters where you least expect them.

Kathleen Breault was a midwife at Sage-Femme Midwifery. But she delivered more than babies. She delivered fraudulent COVID-19 vaccine cards too. As an authorized COVID-19 vaccine administration site, Sage-Femme Midwifery could get genuine vaccine cards from the state Health Department. Breault and her co-conspirator conspired to obstruct the government’s distribution of COVID-19 vaccines by providing COVID-19 vaccination record cards to individuals who were not vaccinated. Including to minors who were at the time ineligible to be vaccinated and Canadian citizens who were not present in the United States when they were purportedly vaccinated. In doing so, Breault and her co-conspirator turned their small midwife practice into one of the busiest Johnson & Johnson vaccination sites in the state. Breault registered more than 2,600 false entries into a New York State database.

Breault would solicit people who were looking to skip the vaccine but get their cards, and even held vaccination clinic days at Sage-Femme. But instead of injecting the vaccines Sage-Femme Midwifery had received, Breault destroyed the doses and logged their patients into the state’s immunization database anyway. COVID-19 vaccines may have been free to the American people during the pandemic, but they were still purchased with U.S. taxpayer dollars. Taxpayers’ money Breault literally threw in the rubbish.
On June 17, 2024, Breault pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud the United States and its departments and agencies.

Excellent job by the FBI with investigating this case.

Today’s Fraud of The Day is based on article “Upstate N.Y. midwife pleads guilty to giving COVID-19 vaccine cards to the unvaccinated” published by the New York Daily News on June 17, 2024
A midwife who helped an upstate clinic hand out thousands of COVID vaccine cards to people who never took the vaccine pleaded guilty to a federal fraud charge in Brooklyn Monday.

Kathleen Breault, 66, admitted to her role in the vaccine scheme, which the feds say was run out of Sage-Femme Midwifery in Albany in 2021 and 2022, at a time when mandates required government and many private-sector employees to get the shot.
