Asylum is the protection granted by a nation to someone who has left their native country as a political refugee. U.S. Attorney Damian Williams stated on December 20, 2022 in court “Asylum is an incredibly important benefit designed to protect the world’s most vulnerable people.” Which is a wonderful ideology that is based on a construct that no one is going to lie. But that is what Uladzimir Danskoi and Julia Greenberg did in order to profit off of the immigration systems. Not only did Danskoi and Greenberg engage in a business of lies, these two coached their customers to lie too.
Uladzimir Danskoi was the CEO of A New York City immigration services firm, Russian America, which worked primarily with people from Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States seeking visas, asylum, citizenship in the United States. Jennifer Greenberg was a licensed attorney for Danskoi. Russian America, fully understanding that those clients did not legitimately qualify for asylum, had helped clients to obtain citizenship in a way they were were most likely to obtain asylum in this country. Meaning they constructed stories for each immigration petition to meet all criteria as a political refugee, regardless of how unqualified they were.
Danskoi and Greenberg worked hand in hand knowingly making false claims and coaching clients to lie under oath. Danskoi prepared and submitted to United States Citizenship and Immigration Services clients’ fraudulent asylum application documents and affidavits, including fraudulent stories of persecution. For example, Danskoi advised a client to seek asylum on the fraudulent basis that the client was persecuted in Ukraine for being a homosexual male, even though the client was very heterosexual and suffered no persecution. Greenberg’s task was to get the client to look the part of a political refugee. For instance, she instructed the man on how to appear homosexual, even going so far as to ignorantly advising him to shop at Macy’s for loudly colored pants and boots with chains on them to help fit the image of a supposed gay man.
Thankfully, Danskoi and Greenberg’s scheme was discovered. On December 20, 2022, both were found guilty of immigration fraud.

A court in New York has convicted Uladzimir Danskoi, the head of the Russian America immigration company, and immigration lawyer Julia Greenberg, both originally from Belarus, of conspiracy to defraud the United States and conspiracy to commit immigration fraud.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said on December 20 that the two were found guilty a day earlier of preparing fraudulent asylum affidavits and coaching clients to lie under oath during immigration proceedings. Danskoi, 55, and Greenberg, 42, may face up to five years in prison.
